When and where will the Conference be
held? |
The Mid-Winter Writers
Conference will be held on February 28, 2015. On-site
check-in will start at 7:30 a.m., and the first Conference session will
start at 9:00 a.m. Registration will be limited to 200 people.
The Conference will end at
4:30 p.m.
|
Are there any
activities available for early arrivals? |
Guests who are either local or arrive
the day before are invited to attend an informal “Greet and
Meet” at 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening (February 27th) at the
Pell City Public
Library. There will be light refreshments and the opportunity to
fellowship and participate in (or listen to) a “Round Robin”
Poetry Reading at 7:00 p.m.

Where can I
park my vehicle at the Conference? |
There is plenty of parking
available at XXX. You may
park immediately in front of the building or
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

Does the Pell
City Center have handicapped access? |
YES. There are handicapped
parking spaces immediately in front of the building and the
building is handicapped friendly.

Who can attend, and what is the
cost? |
EVERYONE is invited to
attend! Whether your genre is fiction, non-fiction, poetry or
blogging this Conference has something for you. Here is the cost of registration:
Early Registration (Before 2-10-2014) =
$60.00
Late Registration =
$70.00 for registrations processed online or
postmarked AFTER 2-10-2014
or at the door (if space is
available) Member (of WA or ASPS)
Registration =
$35.00 (Current PAID member of
WA or ASPS)
Student Registration =
$25.00
(A current student ID is
required) Presenter Registration = No Fee

What is a "Member"
discount? |
Current, PAID members
of
Writers Anonymous or the
Alabama State Poetry Society
will receive a $15 discount on registration.
|
If I am a
paid member of BOTH WA and ASPS, will
I get a double discount? |
No. Only one discount can be
taken.
|
If I join WA as part of this registration
process, can I then get the "Member" registration rate of $35? |
Yes. By
joining WA when you register, you will save $15.
Registration is $50, and a separate annual membership in WA is
$20. If
you paid separately, the total cost would be $70. By joining now and
paying the member rate plus a 1-year WA membership, the total
cost will be $55 -
a savings of $15.
Similarly, if you join ASPS before the Conference, you can also pay
the "Member" fee for registration.

Exactly
what is included with my
registration? |
Your registration entitles you
to attend whatever sessions you wish during the Conference.
Snacks will be provided during the day as well as water and coffee.
In addition, your lunch will be provided. You will be able to network with other
writers, purchase books from the book tables, and ask questions of the presenters.

How can I register? |
Registration is easy! You can
register online using the
Online Registration Form
and paying with PayPal.
You can also register by mailing in a
Paper Registration Form
with your check or money order.
|
Why is
February 18, 2014 important? |
February 18, 2014 is the cutoff
date for "Early Registration." The cost will increase by $10 for any registration completed online or
postmarked after that
date. This increase also applies to any registration at the
door (if space is available).
|
I am a
published author. Can I sell my books at the
Conference? |
Yes. However, in order
to reserve a space for a book table, you must make your request
at the bottom of your Registration Form. A space will be
provided, but you must bring your own table (Not longer than 8
feet). Setting up and manning your table throughout the
Conference remain your responsibility. The facility will
open at 6:30 a.m. on February 28th
for authors to setup their book tables. Authors are responsible
for their own sales tax.
Note: These book tables are for the use of
authors to display and sell their own books. These
tables are not for the use of those offering services or
products, even if those services or products relate to
writers or writing.

I have
requested a space for a table. May I
bring someone along with me to take care of my table? |
Yes. However, ALL guests,
including people taking care of or “manning” your table must
register and pay the applicable conference registration fee.
|
Will the
Conference notes be available later
online? |
No. Initially, we thought we could put
notes or outlines from the general and workshop sessions online.
However, due to copyright constraints we will not able to do
this. We apologize for any inconvenience.
|
What happens
if I need to cancel my registration? |
If you cancel your
registration for any reason on or before February 18, 2014, we
will refund your payment, minus a $10 processing
fee. There will be no refunds for registrations cancelled after February
14, 2014.
